It's been over three months since we closed on our home. Some days I'm amazed at all the things we have accomplished, especially considering we aren't living here full time. Other days, I am overwhelmed with how far we have to go. What ever my budget was I feel like we are rapidly approaching it and will ultimately blow right by it. So I am struggling with pacing myself. I try and buy things on sale and as a result I add things here and there but I don't have any one area that I could even begin to call complete. That said, one of the first spaces we wanted to concentrate on, because it is our favorite spot in the house, is the lanai. This is where we spend the most time and I am hoping to keep moving forward with this part of the house.
One of our first purchases was a sofa and two chairs from the Tommy Bahama Island Estate grouping. I loved them in the navy and cream palette but we were worried about that light sofa so we opted instead for the khaki version. Still, I needed color. The outside of the home is a terra cotta coral and the pool is blue so pulling those colors in as accent colors seems like a natural.
I like the idea of getting some color from the accent tables. One affordable option would be a garden stool in aquas, corals or cream. Throw pillows are another easy way to bring in some surges of color. The biggest element of color could be the rug. I go back and forth, pool, coral,or khaki?
I love using Polyvore. I add in the images of items I have already purchased and then pair them up with different rugs, accessories or background colors that I am considering. I think it is helping me to avoid a lot of costly mistakes. I like to think of it as paper dolls for decorating. :D
Have a great weekend,
